DOORS: 18:30 | EVENT BEGINS: 19:00
We are delighted to announce a unique event at St George’s Bristol, celebrating 40 years of the English-language version of Les Misérables with a screening of the Oscar-winning film adaptation. This epic treatment of the beloved musical, with an all-star cast led by Hugh Jackman, is a big screen experience that’s not to be missed.
The evening will be introduced by Festival Director Owen Franklin, and a talk from the creative team of BLOC Productions, Bristol’s premiere musical theatre club, about their work. BLOC Productions is one of only eleven such groups to be granted permission to stage a UK amateur premiere production of Les Misérables as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of this iconic show; this will be at the Bristol Hippodrome in August 2025.
St George’s is renowned for its stunning acoustics, and so the evening will include live performances of some of the songs from the musical to complement the main movie, performed by some friends of the Festival.
Join us for an unforgettable evening in one of Bristol’s premier music venues – whether you’re a longstanding fan or discovering the magic of Les Misérables for the first time, it will be a spectacular occasion and an uplifting way to start the year.
