Venue Spotlight: St Mary Redcliffe

A parish church that has stood for over 800 years, St Mary Redcliffe is now home to a thriving, inclusive congregation, and a packed events programme…

Considered one of the finest parish churches in England, and an outstanding example of Gothic architecture, the church was once described by Queen Elizabeth I as "The fairest, goodliest and most famous parish church in England" - and who are we to argue?

It is thought that there has been a church on the site since Bristol first became a port, when the Redcliffe area was once separate from the city of Bristol and part of the manor of Bedminster.

From the outside, St Mary Redcliffe is an iconic Bristol landmark - inside, its stunning stained glass, beautiful chapels, and references to various figures from Bristol’s rich history make it the perfect location for us. Here, discover our screenings of silent films with live music, including this April’s double bill of Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr and The Navigator, marking 100 years since the release of both films.
